maha rehan, miniature visual artist.

Maha Rehan, the miniature artist. My work is based on traditional methods and processes of miniature, with contemporary art ideas and practices. I have explored different mediums and techniques in miniature painting such as pencil miniature, siah qalam, and gad rang, neemrang, 3d miniature and conceptual miniature paintings. Miniature painting technique is adopted from the historical time period of Mughal and Persian art era. While today in contemporary era, I use the same ritual process of shifting watercolors into wash colors. The application of these wash colors is done layer by layer on a handmade sheet called vasli. This Step by step application of paint is done in a certain way, in order to attain the required smoothness. Tonal variation is achieved by the process of tapai and Purdagh. Argentinian perspective is the perspective only used in miniature. I recreate unique indoor and outdoor traditional compositions with old master compositions. The use of bright colors is one of the most attractive and identical element of my work. These paintings are lavished with Floral and geometrical patterns, jadwal and borders are created to enhance the beauty of my paintings. The use of bright colors in my art represents, my personality contrasts and the perspective that let your hope shape your future. With this perspective I work on social issues observed in our surrounding society. As the topic of my observations and practice are corruption, domestic, violence, gender discrimination and maqafat-e-amal.
